Kirby will be celebrating his birthday on August 1st and we are getting the gifts! Nintendo is releasing three Kirby games on the Wii U Virtual Console for us to enjoy.
Kirby Squeek Squad (Nintendo DS)
This is a game released in 2006 on the Nintendo DS. In it Kirby uses his copy powers to mix and match the abilities from a band of rodent thieves called the Squeeks. This isn’t exactly a classic, but it was a cute game that had some interesting mechanics where players could drag different abilities around on the touch screen to combine their powers.
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (Nintendo 64)
This was Kirby’s debut on the Nintendo 64 that released back in 2000. Nintendo refers to is as a 3D adventure on their website, but this is more of a 2D platforming game like we normally see from Kirby but with some added depth to it.
Kirby’s Return to Dreamland (Wii)
This is likely the biggest and best release out of the three games being put on the Virtual Console today. It was released in 2011. It featured the same Kirby action that we were used to, but it included some of the most over the top action in the series as Kirby can get some pretty massive super moves.
This is also party of the series of Wii games being brought over to the Wii U on the virtual console along side Punch Out, Super Mario Galaxy, and the Metroid Prime Trilogy.
Are you going to pick any of these games up? Sound off in the comments!
