Microsoft is going to be leaning heavily on the largest pillars in its gaming library this fall. Of those pillars none of them is as big as HALO 5. The HALO franchise has been around for a very long time and shooter fans have been clamoring for a taste of the newest entry’s game play. Microsoft obliged by opening their 2015 E3 press event with a long game play trailer showing off some of the key features of the game.
The most notable thing that makes HALO 5 stand out from previous games in the series is that is it not a purely solo experience. It has been designed to allow for up to 4-player cooperative play throughout the campaign. Players will alternate playing as the Master Chief (or a member of his team) or as Spartan Locke (or a member of his team) as you progress through the story.
My personal favorite? Nathan Fillion is reprising a role he played years ago as Buck in HALO: ODST. He adds a noteworthy level of sarcasm to the voice cast which helps play very nicely off the brutal severity of Spartan Locke.
The gameplay video is below, but as you will be able to tell it maintains the standard HALO aesthetic and brings it into the modern era. It obviously looks gorgeous. We’ll keep everyone posted as we get closer to the release date later this year on October 27, 2015.
