Regular readers will recall a deluge of video game information that rushed onto the website a few months ago as a result of E3 2014. This was a great experience because we all learned a lot about the games our children are going to be asking for over the next few years. This is old news though. E3 has been covered by the mainstream media for years now. What many people don’t know is that there are several other major trade shows that play out over the word stage that give companies like Sony and Microsoft a chance to make announcements and generate buzz. Gamescom is one of the biggest.
Gamescom takes place every year in Cologne Germany. It has been taking place every summer for more than fifteen years and is growing steadily. There were over 300,000 attendees last year alone! In fact, some editors at sites like IGN.com have predicted that it is only a matter of time before Gamescom becomes MORE important than E3 annually based on the importance of the European market.
Gamescom, as it continues to grow, will continue to become a bigger part of the video game landscape. Major announcements are being made each year and they will only get bigger. This year’s events include major press events from Sony, Microsoft, and Electronic Arts (EA).
