Weʼve already talked about another game by RCMADIAX last week (Spikey Walls). Their business model consists of developing micro-games for the Wii U that are similar in scope to game concepts that we would find on mobile platforms like iOS or Android.
Blok Drop U is a lot of fun. It is a puzzle game where players tap on blocks to make them disappear. The key is that these blocks are all in delicate stacks and when one of them falls the other ones stacked on top will tumble down to the ground. The goal here is the make all of the blue blocks disappear while dropping a small red block onto a small platform. You fail if the block falls off the screen.
The premise is simple enough, but it is very difficult to master. You have to knock the blocks down slowly and in the correct order. My favorite part of this game was the ability to stand at the TV screen and strategize with my kids where to pull out blocks and in what order.
Family Gaming Assessment
This is an abstract digital version of Jenga. This is perfectly fine for kids.
Playing Blok Drop U involves tapping on blocks on your game pad screen. A toddler would be able to play this game and make things happen on the screen on demand. There arenʼt many other ways to give VERY young gamers any sort relationship with a Nintendo Gamepad. I recommend this game for that reason alone if you are a Nintendo fan.
I love it. This is the first game that my six year old ever completed. The look of accomplishment on his face was worth the price of admission a dozen times over.
