November was a very good month for Nintendo. Sales have picked up significantly for both the 3DS handheld and Wii U console.
Here are some of the impressive details.
1. 3DS software sales in November were up 40% over November 2013. This was largely the result of three huge games (Pokemon Omega Ruby, Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, and Super Smash Bros. 3DS).
2. The two Pokemon games were released on November 21st and have already sold almost 1.5 million copies.
3. Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS has sold more than 1.5 million copies since October 3rd. It also has the distinction of being the best-selling portable game in the US in 2014.
4. WiiU hardware and software sales have increased by more than 10% and 90% respectively. This increase came in large part to the success of Super Smash Bros for Wii U and widespread adoption of the amiibo line. Smash sold almost 3/4 of a million units in less than ten days worth of sales.
These sales numbers are a great sign ands tell us that Nintendo is building momentum as we move into the next year. Things aren’t going to slow down for big N next year as they will be releasing several big name titles next year including Star Fox and The Legend of Zelda.
What do you think? Are you a Nintendo fan? Does any of this surprise you at all? Sound off in the comments.
