Jeff’s Pick of the Week

For my pick this week, I have to go with Super Mario Bros. 35. This is a new battle royal type game where you play original Super Mario Brothers levels against 35 other opponents. Any enemy you defeat will be sent to the other players. The last one to survive wins! I am not a huge fan of battle royal type games. I’ve played Fortnight and Tetris 99, but neither of them could hold my attention for too long. But I do enjoy platforming games. I have been enjoying another battle royal game, Fall Guys. I love the Super Mario series and I cannot wait to put my skills to the test with other players!

Jeff’s Pick of the Week

Guillermo Del Toro is best known for his not-so-family-friendly movies. He is the film maker of Pan’s Labyrinth and Pacific Rim. In 2016 it was a huge surprise when he announced that he was going to be making a children’s animated series. Thus, Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia became a smash hit. It has gone on to have 3 seasons, and 2 spinoff series. Now, in 2020 you can play as Jim Lake Jr. and save the troll universe!

Jeff’s Pick of the Week

My pick of the week has to go to Marvel’s Avengers. I am excited to eventually be able to play this game. You can play as Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, and Ms. Marvel. Also announced have been Ant-Man and Hawkeye coming sometime post launch. Now to talk about the elephant (or should I say spider) in the room. Spider-Man will only be available for people who buy the game for PlayStation 4. It is unsure if Microsoft will have a deal come out too, but as of now he is the only character that is trapped on one system. So, take up Mjolnir and Hulk Smash when Marvel’s Avengers comes out on September 1st!

Jeff’s Pick of the Week

My pick of the week has to go to the remaster of the Gamecube classic, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. I am excited to get this game and play with my friends online. Usually, not having a couch co-op option would annoy me, but in the age of social distancing, there wasn’t a chance that I would be able to get someone to come and play this game live in person. When the original came out, you needed a Gamecube, 3 Game Boy Advances, and 3 link cables in order to play with 4 people. Now, all you need is the power of the internet!

Jeff’s Pick of the Week

My pick of a week is a game that is already out on Steam and Mobile. Faeria is a card battle game like Hearthstone or Magic: The Gathering. This game boasts that it has over 100 hours of solo experiences, plus you can battle your friends and strangers online. There are over 300 cards to add to your deck of thirty, which allows for many customizable options. Faeria is already on Xbox Game Pass for PC, and I’m hoping that it will come to the console’s version of the subscription service as well.

Jeff’s Pick of the Week

As a fan of Honey I Shrunk the Kids, the 1989 comedy where Rick Moranis accidentally shrinks his children down to a minuscule size, I was very excited when this game was announced. Grounded is a first-person survival adventure game where your character has been shrunk down like the movie referenced earlier. You and your friends must defend against the creatures that live in the backyard, such as spiders, ants, and other bugs.

Jeff’s Pick of the Week

Panzer Paladin looks just like an old NES action game. Jump in your mech and look for melee weapons to take down your enemy! If you do not have a Nintendo Switch, you can also play on Steam. Bash through 17 levels on your way to save the world!

Jeff’s Pick of the Week

I love the Paper Mario series, and was really excited when this game was announced back in May. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is my favorite game on the GameCube. Paper Mario games have been a disappointment since Super Paper Mario on the Wii. Sticker Star and Color Splash were a disappointment in fans’ eyes. Even the crossover with the Mario & Luigi series on the 3ds could not save Paper Mario from its critics. That being said, I am ready to play this game and I am hoping it reminds of why I enjoy this series.

Jeff’s Pick of the Week

I am really excited to get the chance to play CrossCode! It was released on Steam last year, but since I do not play PC games, I have not played it yet. CrossCode is a 2D action adventure RPG that looks like it came straight out of the SNES era. With over 120 enemy types, 7 dungeons, 100 quests, and over 60 music tracks, this game brings a lot to the table. I will be playing it on Xbox Game Pass when it drops this week!
